‘Kick-Ass 2’ Trailer Suggests Jim Carrey Still Funny

I can’t remember the last time I’ve ever been excited about a Jim Carrey movie (Man on the Moon?), but the rubber-faced former funnyman actually got a chuckle out of me in the red band trailer for Kick-Ass 2, which continues the adventures of the titular masked vigilante and the pint-sized (and foul-mouthed) Hit-Girl. This time around they team up with Carrey’s Colonel Stars and Stripes and other crimefighters as part of a Justice League-esque superteam.

Even though I have yet to read Mark Millar’s Kick-Ass 2 mini-series, my interest is piqued. Watch the trailer below, and check out the movie when it hits theaters June 28.

Mo’ Armor, Mo’ Problems

Man, that headline sounded a lot cooler in my head, just like the time I tried to name my nonexistent wrestling finishing maneuver the “Wortmandible Claw.” It just … nevermind. I’m over it. Let’s talk about Marvel’s Iron Man 3.

So the latest trailer for Iron Man 3 came out this past week, and judging by the new footage in the 2:31 spot, things are not going well for Tony Stark in the aftermath of The Avengers. The dude’s not sleeping, The Mandarin (Ben Kingsley) is trying to kill him, and his house gets kinda explodey thanks to some missile-equipped helicopters. That’ll ruin your weekend.

It’s a good thing that Tony’s got an army of Iron Men at his disposal this time around and … is that the Hulkbuster? Watch the trailer and overanalyze at will.

Hamill, Fisher and Ford to Return for Disney’s ‘Star Wars’ Sequels

George Lucas has strongly hinted that Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher will indeed reprise the roles of Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and Princess Leia in Disney’s forthcoming continuation of the Star Wars saga.

“We had already signed Mark and Carrie and Harrison — or we were pretty much in final stages of negotiation,” the Star Wars creator told Bloomberg Businessweek, referring to the status of the sequel films when Disney purchased Lucasfilm for $4 billion last year. “Maybe I’m not supposed to say that. I think they want to announce that with some big whoop-de-do, but we were negotiating with them.”

Well, there you have it. Although we can hardly take Mr. Lucas’ statement as 100 percent confirmation — that will likely come in the form of the aforementioned “whoop-de-do” — but it seems that all of those rumors of the original cast’s involvement in the new Star Wars films have finally been substantiated.
