Netflix Release Part 1 of 'Daredevil' Season 2 Trailer

I've never cared for The Punisher as a character, but maybe the second season of Daredevil will make me change my mind about Frank Castle when it hits Netflix on March 18.

Watch the first half of the Daredevil Season 2 trailer below. Part 2 will arrive on Feb. 25.

Also, yes, we're now apparently in the age of multi-part trailers. What a time to be alive!

Netflix 'Daredevil' Series Looks Pretty Fantastic

Showcasing the dark and gritty corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Daredevil will hit Netflix on April 10, but you can get your first look at the anticipated series with its first teaser trailer below. The brief promo features narration by Matt Murdock himself, Charlie Cox, with some interesting action shots of the character in an early version of the Daredevil costume. We only get brief glimpses of the rest of the cast in their respective roles, but if a teaser is about generating conversation and establishing a mood, this trailer pretty much nails it. What do you think?

Netflix 'Daredevil' Series Gets a Release Date

I don't hate the 2003 Daredevil starring Ben Affleck the way some other folks out there do, but I think we're all in agreement that The Man Without Fear has long deserved proper Marvel Studios treatment. On April 10 at 12:01 PT, our wait is over.

Exclusively on Netflix, fans will be able to stream 13 one-hour episodes of Marvel's Daredevil, starring Charlie Cox as the man behind the mask, Matt Murdock. Also starring in the anticipated Netflix series are Deborah Ann Wolfe as Karen Page, Elden Johnson as Foggy Nelson, Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple and Vincent D'Onofrio as Wilson Fisk, a.k.a. The Kingpin.

To tide us over until April, Marvel and Netflix have released a motion poster for the anticipated series, which you can check out below.

The Buy Pile for July 31, 2013

This week’s Wednesday comic book haul is comprised of a healthy mix of new and old, with a predominantly Marvel selection due to the fact that A) I really dug The Wolverine this past weekend and B) I recently got my hands on the Deadpool video game, which has reignited my interest in The Merc with a Mouth in a major way.

Along with two Marvel trade paperbacks, Deadpool vs. The Marvel Universe and Vol. 3 of Mark Waid’s outstanding Daredevil run, here’s what I’ll be thumbing through tonight:

  • All-New X-Men #14
  • Uncanny X-Men #9
  • Guardians of the Galaxy #5
  • Daredevil #29
  • Hawkeye #12
  • Wolverine: In the Flesh (one-shot)
  • Batman Annual #2
  • Adventures of Superman #3

The Buy Pile for July 10, 2013

San Diego’s Comic-Con International is one week away, but there was plenty of paneled pandemonium happening at comic book stores today, including the second issue of Superman Unchained, the latest installment in Scott Snyder’s Batman: Zero Year storyline and a fantastic tale in the pages of Mark Waid’s Daredevil.

Here’s the complete list of the books I’ll be reading, bagging and boarding this evening:
  • Daredevil #28
  • Savage Wolverine #6
  • Superman Unchained #2
  • Batman #22
  • Justice League #22
Although it’s only tangentially related to comic books, I’d like to take the opportunity to gush a bit about Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim, which hits theaters this weekend. Yes, it’s another movie about giant robots causing property damage, but it’s hard not to look forward to witnessing del Toro running on all cylinders. I recently revisited Pan’s Labyrinth and the exceptional Hellboy II: The Golden Army, so I’m excited to see how he handles a blockbuster of this scale. Bring on the Kaiju!

The Buy Pile for July 7, 2013

Another Independence Day weekend is in the books and, hopefully, you all made it through your BBQ festivities with your fingers and your dignity intact.

In terms of comics, these are books I actually picked up on Friday, but the last three days haven’t been all that conducive to blogging. Here’s what I was reading when I wasn’t grilling, chilling, avoiding a sunburn or concocting inappropriate lyrics to popular songs around a bonfire.
  • Iron Man #12
  • Daredevil #27
  • Legends of the Dark Knight #10
  • Detective Comics #22
  • Green Lantern #22
Even though I haven’t been reading the series in its original digital form, Legends of the Dark Knight could very well be my favorite book coming out of Marvel and DC right now. Since so many mainstream titles dole out larger story arcs across multiple issues, it’s refreshing to get these self-contained Batman stories that aren’t tied to the current “New 52” continuity.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, it’s time for me to do some shopping. Stay nerdy!

On Blogging, Movies and Other Things

It’s officially summer, which for most people means vacations, barbecues and lazy weekends by the pool. And while it’s entirely likely that I’ll be able to enjoy at least one of those things in a few weeks, right now my nose has been to the grindstone working on a variety of different projects for work. That being the case, finding time to blog consistently has been borderline impossible, so here’s a quick update:
  • I saw Prometheus, and while I enjoyed it for the most part as I was watching it, I dislike it more and more the more I think about how the characters acted throughout and where the story ended up.
  • As critical as I’ve been about Sony rebooting the Spider-Man franchise with The Amazing Spider-Man – retelling Spider-Man’s origin a mere decade after the Sam Raimi original – the more I see from the film the more impressed I am. In fact, director Marc Webb and his team might have made the best Spider-Man film yet. Look for an article on that very subject very soon right here on The Wort Report.
  •  I finished Mass Effect 3, and I join the legions of gamers online who were dissatisfied with the ending. I’ve invested a lot of time into this series since 2007, and I expected a bit more payoff when I saved the galaxy from utter destruction. I know that BioWare is putting out a downloadable epilogue on June 26 that will give the trilogy some necessary closure, but that’s something that should have been considered when the game was released back in March. For shame, BioWare.
  •  Comic books are a necessity when you travel as much as I do, and I’m really enjoying a lot of what I’ve been reading lately. My “must-reads” at the moment include Mark Waid’s Daredevil, Greg Rucka’s The Punisher, Matt Fraction’s The Invincible Iron Man and Scott Snyder’s Batman.
That’s all for now. Be sure to follow me on Twitter for bite-sized nuggets of Wortman, and check out my photo-centric Tumblr, “Wortmania Unleashed!” by clicking here.
