Anne Hathaway Sounds Off on Catwoman Reaction

It’s no secret that comic book and movie geeks are hard to please, even when it comes to hot women in skintight leather. So I guess none of were surprised over the backlash against Anne Hathaway’s Catwoman duds in some leaked photos from the set of Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises.

MTV News caught up with the Oscar-nominated actress, who had some interesting things to say about fans’ response to her costume. Watch the clip below.

Chris Evans: Captain America Gets an ‘Awesome’ New Look in ‘The Avengers’

This was probably expected, but Captain America star Chris Evans revealed in an MTV News interview that the character will be getting an entirely new look when he is thawed out to team up with Iron Man, Hulk, Thor and other Marvel Comics luminaries in Joss Whedon’s The Avengers, which hits screens next summer.

“[It’s a] new costume,” Evans told MTV of Cap’s modern garb, which promises to be a departure from the World War II-era look he’ll be sporting in his film debut this summer. “Yeah, it’s awesome. It’s really cool.”

The Avengers
started filming this week in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Check out video of MTV’s sit-down with Evans below.

Emma Stone Alludes to Mechanical Web-Shooters in 'Spider-Man' Reboot

Just days after the first image of Andrew Garfield suited up as Spider-Man emerged on the web, MTV News caught up with Gwen Stacy herself, Emma Stone, to find out whether Peter Parker’s web-shooters will be mechanical in the new film—as they were in the original comic books—or organic, as was the case in Sam Raimi’s trilogy.

“It’s a device,” the actress told MTV on the Golden Globe Awards red carpet. Although this should not be considered an official confirmation, it seems as though Peter will indeed create his web-shooters and webbing in this iteration of the franchise.

I was never opposed to the idea of Raimi’s organic web-shooters, because it’s not entirely plausible that a high-schooler—teen genius or no—would be able to invent them himself. Then again, the idea of Spidey spraying sticky bodily fluid all over Manhattan is pretty gross if you think about it.

James Cameron on Terminator Sequels: “The Soup’s Kind of Been Pissed In”

Remember Terminator Salvation? Neither do a lot of people. But, believe it or not, a fourth Terminator film actually came out last summer. And you know what? It wasn’t terrible. But when the highlight of your multi-million dollar Hollywood blockbuster is a pseudo-cameo by 1980s-era Arnold Schwarzenegger, it might be time to reroute.

Rights to the Terminator sequels were recently acquired by Pacificor, a hedge fund. David Wisher, who wrote Terminator and Terminator 2: Judgment Day, has since revealed that he’s sketched out some ideas for two more films, which would take place after Salvation. Evidently, the series isn’t ready to say “hasta la vista, baby” just yet.

So what does Terminator creator James Cameron think about all of this renewed interest in the franchise he kicked off 26 years ago? The Avatar director told MTV that, in his opinion, the series has “run its course” and he has zero interest in being involved in any future Terminator films.

“[T]he soup's kind of been pissed in a little bit by other filmmakers, so I don’t have any personal desire to go back to it,” Cameron explained. “So I certainly wouldn't want to be a dog in the manger and disallow my friends from making a little money off it. Why would I do that?”

Why indeed. Click here to watch MTV’s interview with Cameron.

Sgt. West’s Giant Douche Club Band

Last night at the MTV Video Music Awards, Kanye West pretty much brought to the surface everything that’s wrong with popular music—and pop culture, some would argue—by exhibiting a complete and total disregard for class and common decency in front of the entire world. In case you’ve spent your Monday under a rock (or without an Internet connection), West rushed the stage during Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech for Best Female Video to proclaim that BeyoncĂ© Knowles should have won instead.

“Yo Taylor, I'm really happy for you, I'ma let you finish, but BeyoncĂ© has one of the best videos of all time," West said, referring to the sexy video for “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It).” Swift was noticeably crushed when West snatched the mic from her. Everyone else just got douche chills.

Of course, Knowles proved later on that not only is she one of the hottest performers on the planet, but she is also among the most gracious. While accepting her award for Video of the Year, she invited Swift onstage for a second shot at her speech. So bravo to her.

Since we’re on the subject of MTV (great segue, right?), I picked up MTV Games’ The Beatles: Rock Band for Xbox 360 this weekend and, as a self-proclaimed Beatlemaniac, it’s amazing. While I thought I’d grown bored with rhythm games and their needlessly overpriced plastic peripherals, developer Harmonix has truly delivered a love letter to Beatles fans. And, as the song goes, “Love is all you need.”

I should mention that I am a terrible faux drummer. If the game’s higher difficulty levels are any indication, Ringo Starr is a better musician than we’ve been giving him credit for.
